Still She Stands is a haunting, darkly funny and lyrical drama set in the final hours of Queen Elizabeth I’s life. Gravely ill yet refusing to lie down, Elizabeth remains upright for an astonishing stretch of time—caught between bodily collapse and the iron discipline that made her a legend. As courtiers and counselors hover, desperate for clarity about the succession, the Queen’s mind fractures into vivid memories and waking hallucinations.
Time, Death, and the ghosts of past choices press in: lost loves, political betrayals, victories bought at a cost, and the loneliness of power. With the nation’s future hanging on a single name, Elizabeth wrestles with what she has built and what she must relinquish. Still She Stands explores the challenges of women in leadership, the price of power, and the legacy left for others to follow.
